I have been a professional goldsmith for over 14 years. Working with metals has intrigued me since I was first introduced to the craft in 1990. I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1996 and attended Sterling International School for Jewelers in Jupiter, FL in 1998. Most recently, I attended the New Approach School for Jewelers in Nashville, TN, taught by the industry’s leading trade instructor; Blaine Lewis.
Prior to opening Esch Metals I worked for various retail jewelry stores in South Carolina and Pennsylvania. My last position was head jeweler for a leading area family-owned luxury jewelry store at their Carlisle location.
Any jeweler who makes a living at the bench can attest, no amount of training will prepare you for every job that walks through the door. That's where experience plays its part. As an in-house jeweler, through the years I gained my chops at repair and restoration, stone-setting, and fabrication. In a field still largely dominated by men, I am proud to be a woman-owned business in the trade with a state-of-the-art studio.
Lucky for me, the world of goldsmithing is forever vast. Techniques are improved, equipment becomes more efficient, suppliers are on-hand and new skills are always within reach for those who wish to acquire them. 2017 marks an important milestone in my journey of metalsmithing. It is the year I start to captain the ship and officially turn the sign on for Esch Metals!
